OPPO ends 2020 on a high; major plans ahead for 2021

World’s undisputed leader in innovative mobile devices OPPO ended 2020 on a positive note having delivered a host of new products and services to the world all of which were received brilliantly by their discerning clientele the world over. 2020 marked 5th year anniversary of OPPO in Sri Lanka and 16th anniversary globally.

In retrospect, Tony Chen – Founder & CEO of OPPO in a message to the group’s staff exceeding 40,000 members noted: “We can be proud that in 2020, OPPO grew in a declining market. We remain the market leader in Southeast Asia. In India, we saw sales continue to rise with a 33% increase in brand preference. We tripled our shipments in Western Europe and Japan. By the end of 2020 we had almost 400M worldwide users of our ColorOS operating system.”

OPPO launched an assortment of new models in 2020: OPPO F15, F17 & F17 Pro & Reno 3. These devices have performed well in terms of sales along with Enco W51, Enco Free and other wireless headphones of the Enco range which is a breakthrough both in terms of style & functionality, also launched early this year.

In November, OPPO hosted INNO DAY themed ‘Technology for Mankind – Kindness for the World’ as an online event. INNO DAY is an annual forum where industry experts, partners & key opinion leader elaborate on the future of technology. INNO Day this year saw the presentation of OPPO X, a rollable handset featuring flexible display & structural stacking. Also unveiled was Full-path Color Management System which will be incorporated in all flagship smartphones from 2021. This technology enables authentic & accurate color reproduction via full DCI-P3 wide gamut and 10-bit color depth.

At the OPPO Dealer Conference (ODC), OPPO pledged USD 29.5 million via “IoT Enablement Plan 2.0” to ecological partners in areas of Personal Entertainment, Home Appliances & Furnishing and Sports & Health.

At ODC, many announcements were made of the brand’s upcoming line-up of products & technologies including the Smart TV which will mark the brand’s foray into the smart television market making history as the second mobile devices brand to do so.

OPPO also participated at China International Industrial Design Expo in 2020 whereby two conceptual designs – ‘slide phone’ & ‘music link’ developed in partnership with Japanese-based industrial design studio Nendo were showcased.

He further noted: “The essence of good design in a market-leading smartphone lies not in our love of technical specifications but in our respect for people and our love of what they wish to achieve in their lives through our smartphones. Our “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World” brand belief and “virtuous innovation” approach capture that belief.

Find X3 will demonstrate OPPO’s virtuous innovation in 2021: a more exciting product designed to make the future better. We fully expect the Find X3 to set the standard for high-end smartphones and secure OPPO’s position among the world’s most respected and trusted brands.”
