Discussions to import China’s top Covid-19 vaccine
Special discussions have been taken place between Sri Lanka and China to obtain the Chinese manufactured top Covid-19 vaccine. The discussions have been held between the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China Dr. Palitha Kohona and the members of the Ministry of Commerce of China.
According to Chinese Embassy sources in Colombo, representatives of Sinovac Biotech, the company that developed the flagship vaccine that China is testing against the Covid virus, have also joined the discussion. According to the Chinese Embassy, the process of obtaining the vaccine in Sri Lanka and the current status of the vaccine have been discussed at length.
Synovax Biotech announced in the second week of December that it had achieved 97% success in its final trials of the Covid vaccine in Indonesia.
The Chinese government has not yet officially released the final clinical trials of the vaccine, but the vaccine is being distributed throughout China for emergency use.
