Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Chennai visits Brandix India Apparel City in India
Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Chennai Dr. D. Venkateshwaran visited Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) located at Atchutapuram near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh at the invitation of Group CEO of Brandix Ashroff Omar.
The Deputy High Commissioner was received by Brandix India Country Head Neil Rosayro, Partner PC Doraswamy, Deputy Chief Operating Officer Saravanan Chandramouleeswaran and HR General Manager Uditha Weerabahu who explained the operations of the Apparel City.
The Deputy High Commissioner Venkateshwaran termed the Brandix Park as exemplary for being one of the largest Foreign Direct Investments in India by Sri Lanka. The Deputy High Commissioner Venkateshwaran appreciated the world class infrastructure, state-of-the-art water and effluent treatment plants instituted to facilitate textile and apparel manufacturing while complying with international standards. He also appreciated the fabric, garment manufacturing and accessory manufacturing units for their organized assembly line production processes, design and quality of the finished products.
From a human resources perspective, the training and upskilling of the rural women workforce in manufacturing products for international brands and labels was noted by the Deputy High Commissioner. Brandix, apart from being the largest textile park operational in the country, is also the largest employer of women with over 20,000 employees at the location.
